The defending champions, Lubaga Grameen are silently sinking following their second consecutive defeat of second round.

The side that had a good start of the season and having the current top scorer of the league in Micheal Lubowa (25 goals) have registered their fifth defeat of the season when the lost 7-9 to high flying Kisugu FC in the game held on Thursday at Old Kampala Sports Arena.

Matchday 13 of the 2023/24 betPawa Futsal Super League kicked off on Thursday evening with a trio of thrilling matches at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.

Timothy Oyamot and Majara Kenneth both bagged hat-tricks for Kisugu, with Ali Mukiibi and Michael Birungi also getting on the scoresheet.

For Lubaga Grameen, Michael Lubowa netted four times and Abdul Karim Nasir scored twice. 

Kisugu’s victory propels them to sixth place in the standings with 20 points, while Lubaga Grameen remains in fourth, trailing league leaders Park FC by 11 points.

In the opening clash, Mengo City staged an impressive comeback twice to clinch a 3-2 victory over Nansana ASKA.

Sinani Kiyaga struck early for ASKA, but Male Antony equalized for Mengo. ASKA took a 2-1 lead into halftime courtesy of Kiyaga’s second goal, but Abdul Karim Tebera leveled the score with a spectacular strike at the 35-minute mark.

With just two minutes remaining, John Musasizi sealed the win for Mengo, securing their third consecutive league triumph and boosting their points tally to 18 from 13 matches.

In the final fixture of the evening, Park FC bounced back to victory with a 3-1 win over Aidenal.

Goals from Michael Abura, Shafiq Mulangira, and Idi Babu secured the victory for the Futsal Uganda Cup champions, lifting them eight points clear at the top of the table.

With this victory, Park reaffirmed their title ambitions, leaving second-placed FC Luzira trailing behind as they gear up for their upcoming fixture against Edgars Youth Programme.

As the action continues, all eyes are now on FC Luzira’s clash with Edgars Youth Programme, while Kisenyi FC prepares to face Kawempe FC, and Kabowa Dream Team squares off against Kampala Junior Team on Friday.
