FWSL: Anitah Namata Mercilessly Punishes Former Bosses As Martyrs Avenge on Kawempe
Anitah Namata with no mercy punished her former bosses in their last match of first round on Wednesday as Uganda Martyrs putting Kawempe on sharp sword at Lubaga.
Namata scored a brace on the day as Uganda Martyrs subject Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC to their fourth loss of the season following a 3-1 final score.
Rogers Nkugwa’s charges had deep anger against Kawempe the side that beat them 1-0 few days back on final of the National Post Primary Kampala Region qualifiers held at Old Kampala SS, the enthusiasm, love and demand from the Kidawalime was evidenced in the way they dominated the game for the biggest percentage.
Anitah Namata who have been silent for almost the entire first round of the FUFA women’s super League had her wakeup call in the 14th minute of the game with a spectacular strike, thanks Catherine Nagadya’s classic pass.
Two minutes to half an hour mark, Shakirah Nyinagahirwa went past Esther Namusoke on the left wing before she laid a teasing cross in the mix for Hadija Nandago to square the game with a nice header and scoring her second of the season.
Kawempe Muslim had a chance to lipfrog after scoring the equalizer, Allen Nassazi ignited a move that got Samalie Nakacwa involved, releasing Sharon Nadunga but failed to press the ball at the back of the net with few steps away from the goal line.
Before the commence of the second stanza, Nkugwa made triple substitution when he brought on Winnie Nakanwagi, Brendah Munyana and Latifah Nakasi in for Kevin Nakacwa, Elizabeth Nakigozi and Immaculate.
The fresh legs added momentum to the hosts and and ten minutes into second half it yielded when Anitah Namata completed her brace with a rebound off Aisha Nantongo’s clearance to make it 2-1 at 55 minutes mark.
Supersub Latifah Nakasi killed off the game in the 70th minute when she hit the ball at the far post to make it three for Martyrs.
Kawempe had chances to come back to life but on two occasions they failed to go for goal, not forgetting Halima Kampi press that went over the bar and Shakira Nyinagahirwa saved strike by Sharon Kaidu.
“I am happy that I scored two goals today and most importantly against my former team.” Anitah Namata speaking to this website after the game “I a win we never expected but thank God we won it, I thank our Coaches, we lost two games this in first round but we never lost confidence, we kept on pushing but scoring against Kawempe it made me happy.”
Moses Nkata, the Kawempe Muslim Ladies tactician accepted that Martyrs was a better side compared to them on the day.
“Uganda Martyrs used the ball more than us, we were all over the place but we didn’t do enough, they had chances more than us and they utilized them and they showed that they loved the game more than us, they had an upper hand compared to us.”
The victory takes Uganda Martyrs to the third position with 16 points levelled with Kampala Queens who have a beer goal difference.
In the next game, Martyrs will host eighth-placed Lady Doves at Lubaga while Kawempe will be at home hosting top placed side, She Corporate on Sunday.
