International Males Netball Tournament: THE ROCK Settles for Silver Medal as Tourney Climaxes

Uganda’s Male Netball Team, The Rock settled for a silver medal after falling short to hosts South Africa for the third time in a row.

Uganda painfully lost the final against the hosts, South Africa, 59 to 34 after fulltime of a much anticipated encounter honored on Saturday, 18 September 2021 at Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria.

South Africa proved to be superior from the first quarter, gave Uganda no opportunity to come close to them on the score range.

The hosts, won the first quarter, 16-11 and they kept on extending the lead until they got a final score of 59-34.

This means, Uganda lost three times against South Africa in the same tournament, the first meeting, The Rock was close, they were beaten by five goals but the following two encounters, South Africa looked more serious whenever they came into encounter with Uganda.

South Africa crowned the champions after winning all their fixtures in the tournament.

Uganda settled for a silver medal and her player, Kigozi Gonzaga Gonza named the best defender of the tournament.

This was the first outting for Uganda Male Netball Team since 2008.

The next Tournament before the Rock is the March 2022 Africa Nations Championship to be held in Morocco.

The Rock will touch down at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday next week.
