Netball Elections 2021: Ucanda Launches Five Star ‘Gifts’ Manifesto

With less than five days polls of 2021 of Uganda Netball Federation, the former National team, the She Cranes Manager Jocelyn Ucanda launched her Manifesto to use in driving the federation to greater heights.

Uchanda is one of the three contestants vying for top seat of the Netball Federation. [Ucanda, Christine Nampijja and Sarah Babirye Kityo].

 While at Route 256 on Tuesday, Jocelyn Uchanda who has the biggest pool of the Incumbent Candidates launched her Manifesto with five major points that she dubbed as ‘The Five Gifts’

“My Executive contains experienced and seniors in game of netball, with new fresh minds, the seniors will play a role of guiding the new people on executive so that we develop netball at regional and national level, In administration continuity is good and when it is combined with fresh mindset” Uchanda said while addressing media.

Ucanda managed to come up with major five points in her manifesto Of which will push Uganda to the world’s top of the game.

The manifesto launched on 1st June 2021 at 256 Route Lugogo; 

Governance:

This Ucanda explained it as the backbone of every successful institution.

And to achieve this, Ucanda is saying that she is going to have structures, setting up functional Committees to support the executive, Professionalizing the game, see is saying transparency, proper Accountability will be a key point in her governance.

Offices that will be at every regional level, capacity building will also be a key factor in her governance, not forgetting the Stakeholders of the game from all levels.

International Relationship

Uchanda hoping to use international connections she gained while in game of Netball and as a team Manager. 

Ucanda is saying that Uganda has started gaining in that, already by getting two professional netball players at international level, but she is saying that was done while she is just a manager but when she becomes the president with full Authority, the game will gain match in her connections.

Finance: 

Despite being one of the most successful sport in the country, the game of Netball has been always on their knees weeping that the treasury us empty. However, Uchanda is saying, in her leadership, that will remain in history, her executive will be creating different sources of revenue especially through selling the brand of She Cranes, creating Public Relations, Marketing, lobbying and appointing full time Accountant to manage federation funds. Ucanda again said that the issue of Accountability will not be a challenge to her executive.

Technical/ Capacity Development

Facilitating participation of national teams in regional continental and international competitions, emphasis on grass root and youth development by creating competitions and netball facilities to cater for talent identification, nurturing and developing players.

Rolling out training programs for Umpires, Coaches and delegates, Uchanda wants to see a fully technical team.

She talked about the construction of Netball home, not forgetting the rejuvenation of the leagues and increasing on number leagues.

Secretariat and Marketing

Putting in place a Secretariat to carry all administrative work.
Appointing a communication Manager on the Secretariat and his roll will be improving netball brand and promote public relations.

Ucanda says, that she will assemble a serious marketing team that will attract sponsors for the game.

The team under Ucanda include; Former General Secretary, Annet Kisomose (Vice President Administration), Denis Mpoza (Vice President Technical), Wilberforce Mutete (Assistant General Secretary), Hajji Yusuf Kamulegeya (Treasurer), Alice Alwenyi (General Secretary), Florence Nakamya (Publicity Secretary).

Elections set to be held on Saturday 05th June 2021 at Lugogo.
