Netball Elections 2021: Competition Takes Another Twist, EC Petitioned Against Blue Star Men’s Team
With only a week to Elective General Assembly of the Uganda Netball Federation, the competition for positions takes another twist.
The whistleblower in names of Muzahura Wilberforce petitioned the Netball Federation Electoral Committee against the ‘ineligibility’ of Blue Star Men’s Netball Team to take part in the forthcoming Elections.
Muzahura in his letter written to EC dated 27th, May, 2021, indicates that Blue Stars Men’s Netball Team came into existence in 2019 and it’s not eligible to take part in voting process.
“This Club started in 2019 and has not fulfilled the three years mandatory requirements to become a full Member.” The letter, this website had a copy read in parts before adding.
“Therefore, I request that it is scrapped off the list of cleared clubs to participate in the June 05th, June 2021 UNF Elective General Assembly.”
On Friday, 28th May, 2021, the Electoral Committee confirmed the reception of the letter.
If the decision from EC goes in favor of the whistleblower, the two delegates from the said club, Denis Mpoza and Alice Alwenyi will be scrapped off.
For starters, Denis Mpoza is contesting on the post of Vice President Technical and Alice Alwenyi is battling for the post of General Secretary.
On the Vice President Technical post, Mpoza Denis is in direct Competition with Richard Muhumuza and Alice Alwenyi is battling against other two candidates, that is Sarah Nkonge of Kampala University and Aminah Mande of Red Star Netball Club.
