FUFA Women’s Super League: Riticia Nabbosa Lone Strike Propels Lady Doves to Final
Riticia Nabbosa been the heroic of the day as Lady Doves FC reaching the Maiden final of FUFA Women’s Super League tourney underway at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The only goal in the game came in the dying minutes of first half, Riticia Nabbosa with a long range, at least 25 yards kissed the crossbar to enter into the back of the net.
With w minute to the quarter of the game, Fazila Ikwaput unfortunately got an injury after a collision with Samalie Nakacwa.
It appeared to be a huge blow but came as a blessing in disguise for Riticia Nabbosa to have a shining moment in the tournament.
The attacking midfielder lifted the team where it needed her the more and the former Olila WFC player thanked God for the goal.
“It has been God, I prayed to him since yesterday, to give me at least a goal and it came, so I thank him.
While Fazila was getting out, she told me that Riticia [Nabbosa] now it’s your turn to take the team to final. I thank God for that.“
After from Winning the Kitara regional league title in 2017, this is the second time, while Lady Doves FC reaching final.
Their first attempt came in 2019 in Elite league at Lugogo and lost to UCU Lady Cardinals by 2-0.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies like any other strong side, got a number of chances, not forgetting Hadijjah Nandago’s missed chance and Juliet Nalukenge’s strike that hit the crossbar.
This is the the third consecutive years when Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC not taking a FUFA Competitions organised title since 2018 when the last won the Women Elite League.
Moses Nkata, the Valley Warriors’ tactician said that they had all chances to win the game but luck wasn’t on their side and also blamed the center referee, for not calling for important fouls.
“We did everything, we played the ball well, we had the most corner kicks, but the luck wasn’t on our side.” He said.
Now Lady Doves FC is waiting for the winner between UCU Lady Cardinals and Uganda Martyrs who are playing the second semifinal.
