Stanbic Ug Cup: Express FC Legends Set To Conduct R16 draws

The Federation of Ugandan Football Association has extended the role of keeping in touch with former football legends.

The Federation has confirmed Fred Tamale to Chief guide the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 draws which is to take place on Thursday 22 April at FUFA House Mengo.

Tamale who won the competition by then called Kakungulu cup with Express FC.

The brilliant attacking midfielder joined the Red Eagles in 1992 and straight away in that year won cup w after beating Nile Breweries 1-0.

Tamale continued the Express FC inspiration as he drove the Wankulukuku based club to more two Kakungulu cup glories in 1994 with 4-3 shootout win over KCCA FC after 0-0 draw and in 1995 with 2-0 over Posta FC as Tamale scoring in the final while helping his club to complete a double.

In 1996 the striker left the club for professional grades in Oman where he spent a shot stint before he returned back to Wankulukuku to guide the club to their sixth Kakungulu Cup and his fourth as a player.

The other former Express FC player who will attend the event is Andy  for Lule.

He featured for the red eagles on two spells with the most important came between 2001-2003 where he won the competition on two occasions while defeating SC Villa 3-1in 2001 and Police FC with the same score 2002.

Lule left Express FC to join Hai Pong of Vietnam and later joined Bongo da Hue in same country before rejoining Express FC to win third Uganda Cup as a player with 2-0 win over Maji FC.

Teams in draws. 

The draws includes six previous competition winners and those are KCCA FC, Express FC, SC Villa, URA FC, Proline FC and Vipers while Police FC, Maroons FC, Soltilo Brightstars and Onduparaka are the finalists in the draws as UPDF, Wakiso Giants, Tooro United and a team to be decided completing the draw.

On the 15 known teams 11 clubs playing in the top flight.
