Rays of Grace Academy completed their revenge mission in emphatic fashion after thrashing El Cambio Academy 4-0 in the FUFA Academies League on Sunday, August 30, at Masherik Ground, Katale.
The Njeru-based side made a blistering start to the encounter, taking the lead as early as the third minute through Stephen Bbaala Sseruwagi, who produced a low finish to give Rays of Grace an early advantage.
El Cambio responded with a series of attacks as they searched for an equaliser, but the Rays of Grace defence stood firm to keep the visitors at bay.
Rays of Grace went into the halftime break with a slender 1-0 lead
The second half, however, belonged entirely to Rays of Grace as they stepped up their attacking intensity and added three more goals.
Workaholic midfielder Rahim Mayanja doubled the advantage with a stunning long-range effort that left the El Cambio goalkeeper with little chance.
Abdulrahman Wandera then made it 3-0 after tapping home following a well-worked move. Sumaku Mutawakali provided the assist, with the attack originating from a well-delivered corner kick by team captain Amos Molu.
Rays of Grace completed the rout from the penalty spot after towering forward Joseph Dorongin was brought down inside the forbidden area. Top scorer Ivan Kiganda stepped up and calmly converted to seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The result provided sweet revenge for Rays of Grace, who had suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against El Cambio in the reverse fixture.
El Cambio, however, were without several key players for Sunday’s encounter, including league top scorer Angello and Ian Wafula, among others.
