Kampala University has officially flagged off a 70-member contingent ahead of the 2026 Inter-Medical Games, with the institution expressing confidence in winning medals across several disciplines at the forthcoming competition.
The games, which will run from May 13 to 16 at Kakungulu Memorial School in Kibuli, will bring together medical institutions from across the country in a celebration of sportsmanship, health and student unity.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held on Wednesday morning at the university’s Mutundwe campus, Acting Principal of Kampala University School of Nursing and Allied Sciences, Suzan Ayesige, praised the Ministry of Education and Sports for inviting the institution to participate and also appreciated the university leadership for supporting the students.

“We’re honoured to participate in the inter-medical games and we are honoured to have been invited by the Ministry of Education and Sports,” Ayesige said.
“On that, we can’t forget to appreciate our Vice Chancellor for the opportunity he has granted us. The students are ready, they have been preparing for this and we are expecting to win trophies in different disciplines we are going to participate in.”
This will mark only the second time in history that Kampala University takes part in the Inter-Medical Games, with the institution determined to make a stronger impression this year.
The university contingent will compete in athletics, football for both boys and girls, woodball, mind games, netball and handball.
The team was officially flagged off by Ayesige alongside sports tutor Martha Soigi and sports director Faisal Nsubuga.
Meanwhile, team captain and Minister of Sports Mulondo Farouk expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, noting that early training sessions had boosted morale and competitiveness among the athletes.
“Last time we didn’t participate but since we got to know that this time we were going to participate, we started training early,” Farouk noted.
“Our teams are ready and we are expecting to win trophies. This tournament is very important because it helps us to boost our health, collaborate with other students and also create togetherness.”
