FUFA Academies League: Rays of Grace Academy Maintains Perfect April Run with Derby Victory
Rays of Grace Academy extended their impressive run of form with a commanding 2–0 victory over Msingi Soccer Academy on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the FUFA Juniors League at Watoto Grounds, Nakirebe.
The highly anticipated Greater Mukono derby lived up to its billing early on, with both sides showing defensive discipline and resilience as the first half ended goalless. Neither team managed to break through despite a competitive and evenly balanced opening period.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Rays of Grace’s in-form striker Ivan Kiganda produced a moment of brilliance. Displaying pace and composure, Kiganda surged past defenders before delicately chipping the ball into the back of the net to give his side the lead.
Rays of Grace continued to press, and their efforts paid off when Stephen Sseruwagi, popularly known as “Bbaala,” doubled the advantage. His goal ultimately sealed the win, marking the final action on the scoresheet in a controlled second-half performance.
The result is particularly significant as it hands Msingi Soccer Academy their first defeat of the season after five matches. Meanwhile, Rays of Grace Academy remain in red-hot form, having won all four of their matches in April. Their remarkable run includes emphatic and hard-fought victories: a 7–1 thrashing of Vipers Sports Academy, a 2–1 win over Buddo Soccer Academy, another 2–1 triumph against Ebenezer Soccer Academy, and now the 2–0 derby success over Msingi.

Msingi’s campaign, despite the setback, has still shown promise. They opened their season with a 2–2 draw against Twinbrook, followed by 1–1 stalemates with Kyadondo Soccer Academy and Ebenezer Soccer Academy, before registering a dominant 6–0 win over Watoto Soccer Academy.
With this latest victory, Rays of Grace climb to 14 points from five games, including two bonus wins, underlining their strong title ambitions. Msingi, on the other hand, have accumulated seven points from the same number of matches.
Elsewhere in the Buganda Region, Kyadondo Soccer Academy secured a narrow 1–0 win over Vipers Sports Academy. Buddo Secondary School shared spoils in a 1–1 draw with rivals St. Mary’s Kitende Soccer Academy, while table leaders El Cambio Academy delivered an attacking masterclass in a 5–2 victory against Ebenezer Soccer Academy. Twinbrook also celebrated their first win of the season, defeating Watoto Soccer Academy 3–1 away from home.
Matchday five of the league continues on Sunday with fixtures in the Kampala Region, as teams look to solidify their positions in the standings.
