USSSA Qualifiers: Stage Set for Mukono Zone Qualifiers as All Roads Lead to St. Mark High School Kayunga
The stage is officially set, and all roads lead to St. Mark High School Kayunga as the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Mukono Zone Qualifiers kick off today, Wednesday 15th April 2026. Teams have started arriving at the host venue, marking the beginning of an exciting and highly competitive tournament.
Upon arrival, teams will undergo the mandatory screening process, which begins immediately to ensure eligibility and fair play. The real action, however, will burst into life tomorrow as matches are played across four different playgrounds, promising thrilling encounters and unforgettable moments.
Hamz Stadium Hosts Successful Climax of Kampala USSSA Qualifiers
A total of 24 teams in the boys’ category will compete fiercely for just three available slots to represent Mukono Zone at the National Championship, set to take place at Lira Town College in Lira. In the girls’ category, 18 teams will battle it out for four qualification spots to represent the zone at the Ball Games I tournament, which will be hosted by Seroma Christian High School.
Boys’ Competition Breakdown
The boys’ category has been drawn into four highly competitive groups:
Group A features defending champions Quality High School, alongside Kingston College Kayunga and Kisega High School (both from Kayunga District). Mukono District is represented by Kasana Vocational and Central College Kabimbiri, while Impact High School from Buikwe completes the group.
Group B includes Latifah Mixed Secondary School, who last featured at the national level in 2023 in Fort Portal. They are joined by Mukono District finalists Seroma Christian High School, Galiraya Seed School, Hopeful Future SS Kayunga, Nyenga Secondary School, and Kasawo Islamic.
Group C is headlined by Mehta Secondary School, the reigning champions of Buikwe District, and the hosts St. Mark High School Kayunga, who are also Kayunga District champions. Other teams in this group include Dynamic SS Ssonde, St. Mary’s College Lugazi, St. Andrews Ndwaddemutwe, and Namilyango College School.
Group D promises stiff competition with Kayunga District finalists Namagabi Secondary School and Mukono Kings High School, the Mukono District champions. They face off with Ndeeba Secondary School, Buikwe finalists St. Andrews Lugazi, Merryhill Christian High School, and Allied Teachers Nyenga.
Tournament Outlook
With limited qualification slots and a rich mix of experienced teams and emerging contenders, the Mukono Zone Qualifiers are expected to deliver high-intensity football and showcase some of the finest school talent in the region.
The tournament will run through the week and climax on Sunday, 19th April 2026, at St. Mark High School Kayunga, where the best teams will secure their places at the national stage.
