Women Football: Former Kawempe Muslim Super Star Signs a maiden Professional Contract in Iceland
After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering last year from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU)- USA , former Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC Super forward, Sandra Nabwenteme ‘Sandsparks’ signed her maiden professional football contract with Iceland side.
The self-proclaimed a Kid from Katwe broke the amazing news to Uganda’s women football fraternity and world at large via her facebook page indicating that she has signed a professional soccer contract with Thor/KA featuring in Iceland topflight league.
“Happy to announce that I signed my first professional soccer contract with Thor/Ka of Iceland. I am so excited and I can’t wait to get to work man!!!” The post reads in part.
With one stone, the 2015,2016 FUFA Women Elite league top scorer and champion with Kawempe Muslim, hit two birds, Sandra also signed a contract with Felkrem Sports Agency that will manage her for a number of years she did not mention in exact.
“I also signed with Felkrem Sports Agency to manage my professional career for the upcoming years.” She revealed.
“I want to thank GOD for this blessing and everybody who has been with me through it all and has helped me reach this point of my life! ITS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME🙏🏿. My family, friends and Fans, Thank you! Thank you!!”
Sandra joined other Ugandan female footballer who trade their brand in European countries, the likes of Ritah Kivumbi,(Sweden), Natasha Shiraz (Denmark), Viola Nambi (Sweden).
The Crested Cranes forward was a giant in Kawempe Muslim squad of 2014/15, 2015/16 seasons and in those two seasons, she won two League titles and top scorers’ twice (17 and 23 goals respectively).
In 2016 with help of Asubo-Gafford Ladies Manager, Henry Barungi, Sandra secured a scholarship in Southwestern Oklahoma State University in USA where she graduated in 2020 with a degree in Engineering.
The side she has joined features in Icelandic topflight league and they were crowned champions in 2017.
