Buganda Women League: Hopeful Future WFC Target Third Straight Win as Bugerere Derby Takes Centre Stage
Hopeful Future Women Football Club will be seeking to maintain their perfect start to the 2025/26 Buganda Women League when they travel to face Kangulumira Public WFC in a highly anticipated Bugerere Women’s Derby on Saturday, 15th November, at Kangulumira Church of Uganda Playground. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
The “Queens of Hope” have enjoyed a brilliant run since the season kicked off, collecting maximum points from their opening two fixtures. They began their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Luweero Star Cranes in Kosovo, courtesy of a brace from the in-form Rashim Bikirwa, before dispatching Kakungulu High Ladies 2-0 at home with goals from Mayi Nantume and Brenda Anena.
Saturday’s clash will mark the third meeting between the two Bugerere rivals in the league. Last season, Kangulumira Public claimed a 2-1 home win in the first round, but Hopeful Future responded in style by taking the reverse fixture on their turf.
Kangulumira Public enter the derby with four points from a possible nine, sitting fourth in the Kyoga Group. They recovered from an opening-day 4-0 defeat to Luweero Giant Queens by drawing 2-2 with Latifah Queens WFC at home and securing a 2-1 away victory over Golden Impact in Mukono.
Hopeful Future, currently third with six points, will be eager to keep pressure on early pace-setters Latifah Queens, who are not in action this weekend.
Elsewhere in the Kyoga Group, second-placed Golden Impact face a tough trip to Luweero Giant Queens, while Kakungulu High Ladies host Luweero Star Cranes in Luweero. Alpha Queens will be looking to improve their form as they take on Hillside Lionesses at Ivary Ground in Kiboga.
In the Mayanja Group, Kyadondo United Women Football Club will welcome third-placed Kick It Women FC to Mwerere Ground Matugga on Saturday. On Sunday, all eyes will be on the top-of-the-table clash at Namungo Seed Playground, where leaders SIA International face second-placed Shammah Queens Mityana.
