The Site Monthly Sports Awards has named Patrick “Amba” Ambayo, the light welterweight sensation from Boggie Boxing Club, as September’s Boxer of the Month, rewarding his electrifying performances and unmatched fan power.

Ambayo earned the accolade on Friday in Kampala following his emphatic victories over Denis Muleme of Cobap Boxing Club in Champions League Weeks 10 and 11. His relentless style in the ring—and his magnetic draw outside of it—secured him the top honor.

The 23-year-old upcoming star has become a cult hero this season, bringing along 350–400 loyal fans to every fight, with supporters traveling from as far as Adjumani, Luwero, Nebbi, Kyebando, and even South Sudan.

Backed by this incredible following, Ambayo amassed 2,017 votes, outpacing Reagan Magumba of Lukanga Boxing Club (913 votes) and Mawanda Depark of East Coast (312 votes). Edward Mukwaya of Kiwatule finished fourth with 132 votes.

The award, presented at the headquarters of Wide Tours International in Wandegeya, came with a cash prize. Ambayo, who was accompanied by his mother Eva Nantongo, sister Patricia, and a sea of jubilant fans, expressed his pride:

“It’s my pleasure to win this accolade—my first time, but part of my dream. I believe it’s the beginning of more success, and I’m already eyeing bigger awards.”

Introduced to spotlight sporting excellence across different disciplines, the Site Monthly Awards have already honored top boxing talents this year: Reagan Magumba (May), Isaac Kasasa (June), Kasim Mulungi (July), and Alex Kanabi (August).

Now, Ambayo’s name is etched among them—not only for his fists, but for the unmatched passion he brings with his legion of fans.
