Pepsi UFL Semifinal Draws: Nkumba,St Lawrence to Settle Unfinished Business

St Lawrence University vs Nkumba University
Makerere University Business School vs Uganda Christian University
The draws for the semifinals of the 11th edition of the Pepsi University Football League were held on Friday 15, March, 2024 at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo.
The draws matched St Lawrence University and Nkumba University in the same fixture to renew their acquittance at semifinal stage.
The two were in the same group E and each side bossed at own home with a uniform score of 3-1.
“We have just been drawn against St Lawrence University our previous rivals in group stages, it wasn’t an easy game while playing them and we’re facing them at the semifinals, we shall do our best to go through to the final, I think they’re more experienced team than we are but we shall put in our best.” Says Ssewankambo John Kennedy, Nkumba University captain.
“The draws are done and we are playing against Nkumba, it’s going to be a good football and the best team will win, yes for the past years we have been reaching this level but not been winning the finals, maybe it wasn’t our time, then if it’s this, we shall do it.” Says St Lawrence University skipper, Balondemu David Lukisi.
Both sides have never lifted the league, the best they did was to reach finals, Nkumba University last did it in 2016 when they lost to Kampala University while St Lawrence lost the final against Uganda Martyrs University in 2023.
However, St Lawrence’s chances to play the semis are still in balance since Kampala University, the side they eliminated on at quarters petitioned Disciplinary committee of UFL against the former’s use of Ineligible players.
In the other semifinal, Makerere University Business School, the double champions will face the 2019 champions, Uganda Christian University.
MUBS will host the first leg on Tuesday 19th, then on Thursday 21,March, 2024, St Lawrence University will host Nkumba at Crown City Campus Kavule.
