Netball Super League: ‘You have no right to Talk’, Prisons Use Excessive Force to Put NIC out of the Trophy Conversation

Prisons Netball Club officially put defending champions, National Insurance Corporation out of the title race following a 50-42 convincing victory on Wednesday evening.
Both sides, NIC and Prisons came into the game with same hopes of winning the 2022/23 season trophy since both were squared at same points 34 with the same games played. But Prisons Netball Club proved that they need more of the title than the defending champions basing on the amazing performance they displayed before a huge crowd of fans at Kamwokya Community Sports Center on Wednesday.
Like any side that came for a serious mission, Prisons never allowed NIC any chance to lead any quarter among the four. The first quarter ended 11-13 in favor of Prisons and they also took the lead at the half time break 25-24.
After the first two quarters, the game looked balanced when each side reaching it’s centres and even recovering immediately those they have lost amidst.
However, the third quarter, Imelda Nyongesa charges came when more determined to kill off the game and eventually they succeeded.
In that quarter, Nyongesa put Florence Sylvia Nanyonga on Court and her combination with Stella Nanfuka and Lillian Ajio was unmatchable and in that quarter, Stella Nanfuka made two important steals, Ajio and Nanyonga had one each and the quarter ended when Prison is in eight goal advantage, 40-32.
The chance made in the third quarter, when they brought on Victoria Nantumbwe in the goal attacking and put Nanyonga Racheal in the wing Attacking position costed NIC, it’s supply was cut off and in the last quarter, Prisons came only to maintain their lead and it worked for them and won the game 42-50. This means they have shared points, NIC beat Prisons in first round, though NIC lost at the moment they wanted the more.
“I am very happy with the win, not by how many goals but I am very happy for the win and Saturday game am there also.
We lost against NIC in the first game, we went back on the drawing board and corrected our mistakes and that’s why we came out all for the game today.” Says Imelda Nyongesa, Prisons Netball Club Coach.
NIC assistant Coach Mugisha Ali accepted the the soliders were better than them on the day.
“The game would have won us a trophy if we took it, we would be in a good shape ahead of our Saturday game as we wait for the result from the other game but that will not be, we have no chance of winning now but the girls have played well though the soliders came with excessive force and over played us today but we shall bounce back better.” Said Mugisha Ali.
The loss left NIC on 34 points and in third position, the worst for the side in recent past.
The win took Prisons to second position with 36 points and the winner between them and the table leaders KCCA on Saturday will be the champion.
This game also put Prisons’ shooter Christine Namulumba Kango in better position to win this year’s top scorer’s award, she has moved to over 750 goals.
