New kids on block, St Mark Secondary School Wantete progressed to semi finals of Kayunga District Secondary Schools Sports competition in Boys football for the first time in the Schools history on Sunday 26th, March 2023.
St Mark SS who had lost to Kayunga Secondary School power house, St Mathias Kalemba Nazigo in their quarter final opening group game by 3-1 had to re-organize and earned a hard fought win over another debutants, Oxford High School Kangulumira by 1-0 scoreline.

St Mark Secondary School joins St Mathias Kalemba Secondary School in Group B, Kayunga Light College Secondary School and Namagabi Secondary School from Group A as School which will represent Kayunga District at Greater Mukono Region in the qualifiers which will be hosted by Mukono District.
St Mathias Kalemba SS Nazigo who returning to region for a second successive year qualified after defeating St Mark SS by 3-1 scoreline in the first quarter final game. Lubanga Muswahabuh, Ashiraf Ochen and Erias Kayima scored for St Kalemba while Shakul Ssendikaddiwa netted the lone goal for St Mark SS.

In the last game, Isaac Kitakule coached side, St Kalemba ended Oxford High School hopes of making it to Region in their maiden championship with the later losing by 3-0. Group b games were all played at Ndeeba Church of Uganda Primary School playground.
In group A games played at Ntenjeru Ssaza ground, helpless St Peters Secondary School Kibuzi failed in the hands of Kayunga Light College by 3-0 in group opening game. Junior Kisalitta, Moses Onyango and Hassan Lukule scored the three goals.
In the second group game, Namagabi Secondary School stretched muscles to defeat St Peter Secondary School from Kibuzi. Jacob Opendi and Derrick Muzira scored a goal each. The result meant the later was eliminated while Namagabi SS and Kayunga Light College had progressed to semi finals.

Following the earlier played games where Kayunga Light College and Namagabi SS had qualified to Region, the last game was a battle for top slot but 7th minute goal from Derrick Sanya silenced Namagabi SS spectators but Namagabi SS started having hope in the last 15 minutes when they started having countless attacks but the opponent`s backline was impenetrable.
Kayunga Light College through Moses Onyango added salt in the wounds when he doubled the lead Seven (7) minutes passed hour mark. Four (4) minutes later Nasif Mugerwa tapped in a rebounder to bring back tension on the field of play.
By end of fulltime, Kayunga Light College took bragging rights after the game had ended 2-1 in favour of Wamutti coached side.

As par the program, Kayunga District Secondary School Sports competition semi finals in Volleyball, Netball and Boys football will be played on Wednesday 12th, April 2023 at Ntenjeru Ssaza Ground.
In Football, it will be a rematch of St Mathias Kalemba SS Nazigo facing off with Namagabi Secondary School. The two giants met at Kayunga A zone Vs Nazigo zone with the encounter ending a one all draw.
In another semi final, Kayunga Light College Secondary School will be up against St Mark Secondary School Watente before the finals.
Last year, spectators of Kayunga District Secondary School Boys football missed to watch the finals after organizing committee failing to organize a final. Kayunga Light College, Namagabi SS, St Mathias Kalemba and St Pontiano Ngondwe had progressed to semi finals.
Kayunga Light College and St Pontiano Ngondwe qualified to Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association national championship which were held in Arua City at Mvara Secondary School.
In Netball, Namagabi Secondary School will face Kanjuki Secondary School while St Mathias Kalemba Secondary School Nazigo will battle Suuka Islamic.
In Volleyball, Greater Mukono Region defending champions none other than Namagabi SS who defeated Kanjuki to progress to finals will play the winner between Busaana Secondary School and St Mathias Kalemba.
