Jinja USSSA Qualifiers: ST Joseph SS in the Last Eight with a Win over St John
St Joseph SS Nakanyonyi 2-0 St John SS Wakitaka
The round of 16 of the Jinja District National Post Primary Qualifiers of USSSA kicked off on Friday at different playgrounds in Jinja and the first game was between St Joseph and St John SS Wakitaka.
Two goals for St Joseph in the first stanza were enough to settle the contest between the two neighbors.
The Bugembe based school took a deserved lead in the 15th minute when Amos’ well executed free kick from the right wing found the back of the net.
St Joseph there after enjoyed a lion’s share of the possession, squandering a couple of chances until Bamuleteiza Bamu scored a screamer in the 31st minute to settle matters.
Bamu controlled the ball, beating St John’s defense before shooting powerfully. The ball hit the woodwork before crossing the line to send St Joseph’s bench and students into wild celebrations.
St Joseph will now be facing Lakeside SS who thumped Jinja City parents 4-0 at Kyabazinga stadium Bugembe.
