Capacity Building: UWFA Becoming Relevant, Holds Successful Maiden FAMACO One Course
The Uganda Women Football Association (UWFA) started becoming relevant in the game of football especially to women side.
The association that subscribe to FUFA as the football governing body in the country, but for the past years, it has been so silent and many in women’s football fraternity have been questioning it’s relevance towards the development of the game.
After successfully holding the second edition of End of Year Women’s beach soccer festival at Mutoola Beach, UWFA started the new year with a Football Management and Administration Course level one (FAMACO1) that had attracted a number of participants.
The three days capacity building workshop (FAMACO1 one) climaxed on Friday at the Special Interest Groups headquarters Mengo.
At least 57 participants took part in the FAMACO1 ONE course and the closure was graced by Livingston Kyambadde who was the guest of honor and he was accompanied by Women Football representative on FUFA EXCO, Owek. Florence Bagunywa Nkalubo, FUFA CEO in charge of Football Decolas Kiiza and Legendary Paul Ssali.
Kyambadde in his speech asserted that football die because of untrust and that’s why people fight, he has also hailed the development of the Women Football in Uganda and asked the participants to spread the good news of the game since they good the knowledge especially in management and administration.
“Girl child is on everyone’s mouth, now days, many people watch women’s football than before, so I thank the federation and the leaders in women’s football.
But Football has lost trust that’s why people are fighting each other, they get lies and also spread the wrong information, now you people when you go out there, teach the truth, because you have studied and got the Truth.
If you lie, you make the problem part of the future.” Said Kyambadde.
The Association chairperson, Madam Margret Kubingi told this website that the first course they have held has been a success and they expect to hold more.
“In the AGM we had in September last year, we drew an activity calendar and we convinced ourselves that we had to fulfill them, that’s why you saw, we had the End of Year Women’s beach soccer festival in Mutoola and we also had to organize this course.
It has been a success because we got the number of participants we wanted even more, they came from different parts of the country and we got one from Tanzania.” She explained.
About the active players who have attended the course, Kubingi revealed that those will be the ambassadors when they get back to their fellow players since their is life after active football.
Among the active players who attended the course is Daisy Nakaziro from Kampala Queens and Banura Phoebe from She Corporate.
“The course has been a success on my side, I learnt a lot, been seeing those studying but I didn’t know what exactly is in it but now I know. I didn’t come only to study and leave the knowledge redundant but I came to acquire knowledge as I prepare my life after football, we girls we don’t spend a lot of time in active football, so I need to prepare for that life after the game.” Said Banura Phoebe.
