2022AWCON Qualifiers: Crested Cranes Fly to Final Qualifying Hurdle, Eliminate Ethiopia
The Uganda nation Women’s football team, Crested Cranes, propelled to the final round of the 2022 Women AFCON qualifiers.
Via penalty shoot outs Uganda booked a meeting with neighbors, Kenya in the last qualifying hurdle, 2-1 score on shoot outs was enough for Crested Cranes to be showered congratulation messages.
In normal time of second leg at Abebe Stadium in Addis Ababa on Tuesday evening, Ethiopia beat Uganda 2-0 to equal the score line the Cranes recorded at the St Mary’s Kitende on Wednesday last week and the aggregate score went 2-2.
Senaf Wakuma and Loza Abera scored for the Lucy in normal time.
Both sides had chances to win the tie in regulation time but it would just not be and the fate was decided by penalties.
Hasifah Nassuna and Fauzia Najjemba were the only two who netted for Uganda while Ethiopia missed three of their four attempted kicks with skipper Ruth Aturo saving some of them for Uganda.
Uganda has only Kenya on her way to Africa Women’s Nations Championship of 2022.
