Women Football: UWFA, UBSA Marry for Beach Soccer Development

In their pursuit to expand Women football in the country, Uganda Women Football Association (UWFA) enter into partnership with Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) that will see more Women in Beach Soccer.

The two associations with club officials had a consultative meeting yesterday at FUFA SIG Offices in Mengo and they reached at a number of issues including, UWFA taking on Women Beach soccer league management.

“We have had a meeting with UBSA and all the clubs that took part in last season’s beach soccer league, we have discussed on a number of issues, that will see the game developing and bringing more stakeholders on board.” Said Margret Kubingi UWFA Chairperson.

Among the issues discussed include; the festival celebration to be held on 31st December 2021 at Mitoora Beach.

“We have agreed that we have end of year festival at Mitoora Beach, that will bring us together and we are going to have clubs there.”

The UBSA Chairperson, Deo Mutabaazi had this to comment on the partnership.

“Today is a very historical day in field of beach Soccer, as we have entered into understanding with UWFA to take over the Women Beach Soccer activities effective from this season for purposes of proper allocation because UWFA is the mother body of women football in Uganda.” Deo Mutabaazi, UBSA Chairperson confirmed.

Uganda Beach Soccer is going international, so one of the reasons as to why they decided to engage UWFA is to create a national team for women beach soccer.

Ten clubs have attended the historical meeting.
