The 2025/26 Pepsi University Football League gets underway this Thursday, September 25, with a blockbuster double-header at the newly refurbished Hamz Nakivubo Stadium.

Defending champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) will face two-time winners Kampala University (KU) in the curtain-raiser, setting the tone for what promises to be an electrifying season. Later in the evening, ISBAT University will square off against Kyambogo University, who are making a return to the competition after serving a suspension.

Adding to the excitement, stadium developer Dr. Hamis Kiggundu has offered fans free entry and complimentary drinks as part of his continued commitment to boost Ugandan football and the sports sector at large.

This season marks a historic moment for the league, as it is the first time the competition will be staged at the fully reconstructed Nakivubo. With modern facilities and improved security, university fans are expected to turn up in large numbers to enjoy the action in comfort.

Matchday one will stretch into the weekend, with Uganda Christian University (UCU) hosting Ndejje University in Mukono on Friday. On Sunday, the University of Kisubi battles Mountains of the Moon University in Entebbe, while Kampala International University (KIU) welcomes Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Nsambya.

With top universities gunning for glory and new grounds adding glamour, the 2025/26 campaign is set to begin on a high note.
