Netball Super League: Finally Mugisha Finds Big teams winning ‘Notes’ as NIC Subjects Prisons to Another Defeat

The defending champions, National Insurance Corporation Netball Club returned back in the title winning contention with a very important victory against Prisons Netball Club in the end of first round encounter honored on Wednesday at Kamwokya Community Sports Center.
On Wednesday, NIC by four goals up beat Prisons Netball Club 54-50 to bounce back to second position, four points behind table leaders, KCCA Netball Club who have 100% winning record this season.
Like any title contenders encounter, NIC-Prisons game was one of the best encounter anyone needed to watch, a tight one and the first quarter ended 14-12 in favor of NIC.
At the break NIC was leading 27-22.
Not like they played against KCCA and Weyonje the two games they have lost so far, on Wednesday, Mugisha Ali charges were so aggressive from the first quarter, they only left it in the last quarter after developing a would be complacency.
It’s only in the last quarter that they scored less, 12 against the 16 Prisons scored.
Prisons, looked so down from the first quarter, made a number of errors especially in the third quarter, the midfield was not that good and Namulumba wasn’t sharp enough to lift her side despite the fact that she is the shooter who scored the most goals, 43.
Mugisha Ali revealed that his team showed a class and their individual brilliance what they didn’t show against KCCA and Weyonje.
“The girls won the game for themselves, they showed the class, I always tell my players that class is permanent and form is temporary, they used their individual brilliance and talent to win this game, the qualities they didn’t show against KCCA and Weyonje.” Mugisha asserted.
“Today we saw the class of Nanyonga [Racheal], Sarah [Nakiyunga], Seera Zam and Margret, despite the fact some are still injured, they had the endurance and mentor toughness to win the game today.
“Yes I’m second round, we are going to recruit more players and to maintain the squad we are having, this first round we have been using only 12 players and six of them were injured.” He said.
His counterpart, Imelda Nyongesa failed to tell what happened to her players basing on the performance they have displayed.
“The game was ours, but we started at a slow pace, the girls were to casual, I don’t know what happened to them, I can’t even tell, they failed to lift their bodies and our opponents built on that, the girls only woke up in the last quarter but we’re only closing the gap.” Said Coach Imelda Nyongesa.
But she asserted that the league is still open, they are bouncing back stronger in second round.
In other results, the table leaders, KCCA winded up first round with a 100% record, they beat Police NC 48-48 and topped the table with 22 points, four above second placed NIC and Prisons who are in third position.
Luweero jumped out of the relegation zone with two wins registered on the last day of first round, they beat Africa Renewal University 46-44 and 48-31 against Posta.
Weyonje Netball Club got a walkover against Mutelx Life Sport who didn’t show up for the game.
Christine Namulumba is the league top scorer after first round, the Prison NC shooter, seats on the table with 430 goals followed by Seera Zam of NIC with 384.
