Kityo Sarah Foundation Holds Successful Maiden Talent Identification Event
The Kityo Sarah Foundation, has held a successful maiden talent identification event in Namutumba District, Eastern Uganda.
The event that was mainly for cycling competition among the disabled people, abled men and women was held on Wednesday, 24th January 2024 and it has attracted a mammoth of people from Eastern Uganda.
Bulafa was the hosting village and former She Cranes Manager and the current chief coordinator of Kityo Sarah Foundation, Charles Kirundi Baliise was the Chief organizer of the event that attracted over 40 cyclists in abled men, women and disabled ones.
The men covered a distance of 105km and Mwisi Amisi was the eventual winner after beating Wakiku Mayanja in an epic race that pulled numbers of locals. Namukose Amina won the women’s race while Wangoye Sowali won the disabled people race.
Not like other races, this time round every individual who took part in the race walked away with a brown envelope courtesy of Kityo Sarah Foundation.
Speaking to the crowd gathered at Bulafa Islamic primary school, Bulafa Village, Namutumba Sub County, Namutumba District, the Director, Kityo Sarah Foundation, Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah argued the parents to support the talent of their children and avoid divisionism that come with the different political ideologies if they are to move from one step to another.
Babirye asserted that as the foundation, they are looking at many issues among; talent identification in cycling, Netball, football, music and athletics. In her submission, Babirye revealed that the foundation also looks at the welfare of the Ugandans, helping the needy, disabled people in need, finding scholarships for talented, bursaries to kids from humble families that can’t afford basic education. She mentioned about the sensitization of locals about the corruption and how families can have financial muscle amidst challenging times.
“I am glad that you have come in such big numbers, I am glad that you genuinely support your own and indeed you love sports, I saw this with my eyes.” Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah in her speech at the awarding ceremony.
“No any element of politics in why we are here, Kityo Sarah Foundation is a social foundation that is aiming at seeing kids talents are lifted, financial muscle of the families is strong, this foundation is looking at the well being of the Women especially in the villages, so if you are here for political ambitions, please you might be in a wrong place.” She added.
“I saw these men and women have real talent, they are energetic and enthusiastic about the cycling sport, we’re going to find away to see that these talents don’t shamble, we need to see these girls and boys representing the national flag.”
The locals and their political leaders, thanked the foundation for thinking about them but again asked the foundation President not to stop at cycling only but also to think of other sports disciplines because they feel they have talent in many disciplines.
According to Kityo, they are going to transverse the whole country to find those talents and give help basing on their financial muscle.
