Kawempe Muslim Ladies Storm CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Semifinals After UJECO Rout

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC have secured a place in the semifinals of the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA zonal qualifiers after finishing top of Group B with a perfect six points.
The Ugandan champions produced a commanding display on Wednesday at Kigali Pele Stadium, Rwanda, thrashing Djibouti’s FC UJECO 8-0 to confirm their progression to the knockout stage.
Jovia Nakagolo and Latifah Nakasi scored braces, while Agnes Nabukenya, Cecilia Apiding, Samalie Nakacwa and an own goal from Nesima Elemo completed the emphatic victory for the Valley Warriors.
FC UJECO’s Elemo opened the scoring for Kawempe in the 13th minute when she inadvertently turned Nakagolo’s teasing cross from the left flank into her own net while attempting to clear the danger.
Seven minutes later, Nakagolo doubled Kawempe’s advantage before completing her brace in the 26th minute with a well-taken header from Samalie Nakacwa’s cross.
Nakacwa added her name to the scoresheet in the 34th minute before captain Agnes Nabukenya made it 5-0 with one of her trademark long-range strikes.
Latifah Nakasi then sent Kawempe into the halftime break with a comfortable 6-0 lead after tapping home in the 39th minute following Nabukenya’s cutback from the right flank.
Seven minutes after the restart, Cecilia Apiding scored her first goal in Kawempe colours to extend the lead to 7-0.
Nakasi completed the rout with her second goal of the afternoon, heading home at the far post from substitute Aminah Nakato’s cross in the final minute.
Despite making four changes from the side that defeated defending champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) Women FC 1-0 in their opening fixture, Kawempe remained dominant throughout the contest.
Kawempe will now face CBE again in the semifinal on Saturday, August 29, 2026, as they aim to reach their first-ever final of the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA zonal qualifiers.
