KATAKWI: Cattle Thieves Survive Being Lynched, Car Burnt To Ashes

Residents of Ngarimu Sub County in Katakwi District burnt a taxi registration number UBA 298R after they suspected the occupants to be behind the continued cattle theft in the district.

The incident happened on Tuesday 29th, November 2022 at around 2am.

The Resident District Commisioner (RDC) for Katakwi District, Rtd Maj. Godfrey Katamba says the taxi driver was coming from Omodoi heading to Ngarimu to load three (3) stolen animals in Ootur swamp that connects Omodoi and Ngarimu sub counties.

Rtd Maj. Katamba said that the community, with its vigilance, managed to chase after the thieves from Magoro Sub County and they later got trapped in the broken bridge of Ootur.

“We have sensitized all our communities of Katakwi [District] on the vigilance methods of cattle theft and security is on standby always. These are purely internal thieves, not the Karamojong cattle raiders,” the RDC said.

In addition, several sub county leaders in Katakwi have lauded the community for the quick actions against the cattle thieves.
