The State Minister for Kampala Kyofatogabye Kabuye asserted that, the unvaccinated boda-boda cyclist will not be allowed to operate in the city starting next year.
The minister made the remarks while officiating at the opening of the 4th COVID 19 vaccination mass campaign organized by the safe boda academy at Kyebando, a Kampala suburb yesterday.
“Thank you Safe Boda for your support towards this fight against Covid19, this massive vaccination campaign for the next 2 week. I am glad that I get to see how beautiful your academy is, The professionalism and a wonderful hospitality.” Said State Minister.
He added that it will be hard for the boda boda cyclists to clearly operate from Kampala Metropolitan areas when they are not vaccinated for COVID-19 come January next year.
The safe boda vaccination campaign is aimed at attracting boda boda riders to get vaccinated.
According to the safe boda co-founder, Ricky Rapa Thompson, over 6000 Boda boda riders have been vaccinated since the launch of the campaign.
In his last state of the Nation address, the President of Uganda HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni revealed that whether all vaccinated or not, the nation will be fully reopened in January 2022.
