If we Can Handover, Why not Him, Gen. Tumwine Advises M7 to prepare for Smooth Transition

Former Minister of Security Hon. Gen Elly Tumwine advised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to prepare for Smooth Transition of power to maintain stability in the country.

To say this, Tumwine was handing over the Security Ministry’s office to the newly appointed Minister of Security Hon. Major General. Jim Muhwezi yesterday.

The former is set to become a presidential adviser on issues concerning security, but while leaving he promised to work hand in hand with Maj Gen Muhwezi.

In his last speech as the Security Minister, Tumwine uttered this;

“I admire him [Museveni], I thank him as my teacher, mentor as well as my hero, I will continue to give him my genuine support and my advice.” Gen. Elly Tumwine talking about Museveni.

“To me, now I think the best advise we can give him is to prepare for a smooth transition so that we can ensure stability and long term peace for the long future.

It’s our duty to save him, to help him not to develop that syndrome. He has given this country the best so he deserves a honorable retirement. ” 

Tumwine said he is happy to hand over the responsibility to others and he is committed to give necessary support to his successor.

“I am happy to be handing over to Maj. Gen Jim Muhwezi, a friend and an old-time comrade .
I promise my resolute commitment to you in executing your official duties at the Ministry. I am ready to give support and advice where you need me. “

The proud General stung his fellow comrades who fight for positions, and ministerial roles, he says that even if you not in any position you can still instill value to the nation.

The all of this week, many outgoing government officials and ministers been handing over offices to the new bearers.
