Covid Relief: 700 Residents Benefit as Feed the Hungry Souls Initiative Climaxes

At least seven hundred Kayunga District residents have benefited from the Kayunga Community Club’s initiative dubbed feed the hungry souls that has climaxed on Sunday evening.

The Charity organization, based in Kayunga District, called Kayunga Community Club had initiated a campaign early this month aiming to extend food support to starving families in the district and their target was to feed at least 700 households.

The food give away ran for three days and climaxed on Sunday, the people who benefited from this project include; the people with disabilities, widow, seriously starving families, Boda Boda cyclists, Taxi drivers, and conductors.

These received maize floor and they were happy for the good Samaritans who came for their rescue in this tough lockdown.

“We thank you for this help you have given us in this pandemic, it can be very hard for us not to surely thank you, many promised us food but never fulfilled, but you did it minus putting you on pressure.” Tafuwumba Mustapha, Chairman Bugerere taxi operators thanked the Kayunga Community Club.

“We are very happy that you have paid us a visit to know the state we are in, we are among those who are no longer working, we expected Minister, Nabbanja’s message but we received none, surely we’re in bad state, we feed on nothing, I send my cry to the president to hurry up the vaccination process such that we get back to work but we have nothing to eat at home.”  Sheikh Yusuf Luzinda, Bukolooto taxi stage driver.

“My people are very happy for this, they are not in good state but when you get good Samaritans like these to give you a hand is something great, I thank all people who are behind this.” Kigozi Robert, Chairman Namagabi 

The president of Kayunga Community Club, Joseph Mpagi Bwogi commented on their initiative and what next after this project.

“We saw the situation was becoming hard for our people, and we had something to do, so as Kayunga Community Club we came together to give a hand.

We found people eating nothing for almost three days, so the situation was touching, and we shall keep giving hand to our people and I ask those others who have something to help those who don’t, that is the only way to go.

We managed to feed seven hundred households in Kayunga without the help of politicians and we thank God for this.” Joseph Mpagi Bwogi, Chairman of the Club.
