The Champions of Tanzania JKT Queens have continued with the winning streak following a slim 1-0 deserved win over New Generation on Wednesday afternoon at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Dominants from the kick off whistle, JKT Queens had two clear chances in the first stanza of the game but New Generation defense was up to the task.

The champions of Zanzibar managed to hold dangerous JKT Queens to a goalless draw in the first half of the game.

In the second half, JKT started from where they stopped, attacking the opponents and they broke the deadlocks in the 56th minutes through Esther Mabanza.

In a well built and amazing move, Mabanza found the ball at the far right corner and easily hit the ball to the opposite bottom corner which left the goalkeeper with no chance to put JKT Queens in a well deserving lead.

JKT managed to hold their slim win till to the last whistle and earned their second win in two games played in group B.

They had earlier defeated the champions of Rwanda AS Kigali 2-1 in their opening game of the tournament.

Now, JKT sits on the top of the table as they wait to hear the results from AS Kigali game and Vihiga Queens. A win for Vihiga Queens, will leapfrog JKT from the top of the table.

The top two teams from each group, will straight away head to the semifinals and the winner of the tournament will represent CECAFA zone in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November this year
