CAF U-15 Schools Qualifiers: St Mary’s Kitende Seal Quarter-Final Spot with Victory Over Bulo Parents

Defending champions St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) became the first team to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship Uganda U-15 Qualifiers after defeating Bulo Parents Secondary School 2-0 on Saturday morning at St Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu City.
Kitende continued their impressive title defence with another commanding performance, registering their second consecutive victory to book a place in the last eight with one group match to spare.
The breakthrough came in the first half when John Mary curled home a superb free kick to give the defending champions a deserved lead.
After the restart, Samuel Kamanyire doubled Kitende’s advantage with a well-timed header, sealing all three points for the Wakiso-based football giants.
The victory sees St Mary’s Kitende maintain a perfect record, having opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Madinah Islamic Secondary School before overcoming Bulo Parents.
With six points from two matches, Kitende have officially qualified for the quarter-finals and remain among the favourites to retain the national title and earn Uganda’s ticket to the CAF African Schools Championship CECAFA Qualifiers.
Busunju and London College Register Big Wins
Elsewhere, St Francis Secondary School Busunju began their campaign on a high with a convincing 3-1 victory over St Bernard’s College Kiswera.
Christopher Damulira starred for the Busunju-based side with a brilliant brace, while David Kayondo added the third goal. Eric Gitta Juuko scored the consolation for St Bernard’s College Kiswera.
In another Group B encounter, London College Nansana produced an emphatic display to defeat Lugazi Secondary School 4-1.
The victory was inspired by braces from Samuel Elunga and James Wisooba, while Sharif Batte netted the lone goal for Lugazi Secondary School.
The tournament continues later in the day with more group stage matches as schools battle for places in the knockout rounds, with only one boys’ team eventually earning the right to represent Uganda at the CAF African Schools Championship CECAFA Qualifiers.
