Buganda Regional League: Lugazi Municipal, Kinyinda Boys Set Battle for Big League Promotion as Season Climax

Most of Buganda Regional clubs have left the Big league qualification battle for only two clubs, that’s Kinyinda Boys Football club and Lugazi Municipal.
They were 24 teams that took part in the contest via the two groups, Ssezibwa and Katonga group that make up Buganda Regional league.
The journey that started on Wednesday 23rd October 2022 has seen the regular season touching its climax.
Kiyinda Boys topped Katonga Group while Lugazi Municipal led the Ssezibwa group to continue the battle of joining fellow Lugazi men in Lugazi FC.
Lugazi FC joined the Big League Last season after defeating Kajjansi United in playoff held at Kavumba.
This season Kajjansi finished the regular Season in fourth position behind leaders Kiyinda Boys, Buwambo FC and Kiboga United in the order.
The two shall complete the task which has to see one team joining FUFA Big League though Mityana outfit Kiyinda Boys under Coach Simon Dunga has been superior in regular season by collecting 51 points from 22 Katonga group games compared to 41 points collected by Lugazi Municipal under Coach David Kiwanuka Tirika.

In same number of games played in Ssezibwa group to become ahead of teams like Manyangwa FC which is conducted by Coach George Best Nsimbe and Alex Gitta’s UWA/ Simba FC.
On other hand Giant Buikwe Redstar needed a final day 2-2 draw with Free Stars to survive relegation.
The regional leaders are yet to set the playoff dates.
