Uganda’s football representatives in the ongoing ANOCA School Games in Algeria, Buddo SS staged a timely comeback to beat Tunisia’s representatives 2-1 in the second Group C fixture hosted at Stade Hamlaoui in Constantine on Tuesday.
Credit to skipper Barasa Dickson and Mukisa Owen who inspired Buddo to the first win of the tournament on Tuesday evening.
Tunisia took the lead in the 32nd minute of the first stanza through Taboubi Ayhem’s strike. But prior to the goal, custodian, Ssemugera made a penalty save in the 30th minute forcing the ball to a corner kick, however, in the 32rd minute his over the head ball punch never took the ball out of the box with defenders failing to clear it out of danger, granted Taboubi an opportunity to hand his side a lead.
Tunisia enjoyed the driver’s seat for the entire first half despite the fact that Uganda’s skipper Barasa had two created chances but never taken.
Richard Malinga’s boys returned for the second stanza well charged and did all the necessary magic in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
Maliga made a quick double change ahead of the second stanza replacing Kato Rwahim with Kizito Reagan, Olara Loy paved way for Babi Abdul Shakur who totally changed the flow of the game.
In the 53rd minute, substitute, Babi Abdul Shakur from the left flanked laid a cross that found a well positioned Barasa Dickson who headed the ball at the back of the net to level the matters.
Two minutes later, another impactful substitute, Musiitwa Akram solely drove the ball from the centre, putting off to opponents to release Mukisa Owen who slotted the ball at the back of the net to hand Uganda a lead and eventually won the three points.
The win took Uganda to the top of the table of group C with three points, the counterparts, Tunisia seat last on the table following a barren stalemate between Ivory Coast had with them in their first played match.
