Volleyball: Venue, Dates for 15th Edition of Junior Girls Championship Revealed
The Uganda Volleyball Federation Schools Commission revealed the dates and venue for the 15th Edition of All Girls National Junior Championship.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament wasn’t held in 2021 but it has bounced back, it’s going to take two days, that is from 12th and 13th March 2022 at Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School.
According to organizers, 14 schools have confirmed to take part in the championship including the defending Champions Kinawa High School, Katikamu SDA, Nabisunsa Girls School, St Elizabeth Girls School Mbarara.
The tournament that was started in 2006 at Gayaza High School, came into existence with the aim of identifying talents, developing girl child skills and to empower them to believe that like boys, they can also achieve anything they desire to, like boys do.
The Organizers of this year’s edition are moving under the theme; breaking the bias.
“We are preparing these girls for future competitions at national level, and we know it better that many girls lost bursaries due to COVID-19, but we going to use this Championship to get younger talented girls and get them bursaries in different schools, on ground we shall be with scouts.” Said UVF second vice president, Kairungi Salma Atika.
