Cranes: Micho Names Old Friend as His Assistant, Replacing Mbabazi

Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named Moses Basena as replacement for Livingstone Mbabazi in the position of assistant coach of the National Senior team.

Mbabazi opted to remain at his club yet FUFA’s objective is to have a National team coach who is not attached to any club.

The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff.” FUFA statement

Basena, who have been jobless after leaving Rwanda’s side, Sunrise FC, was once under Micho in his first spell at Cranes between 2013-2017.

The 54-year old tactician also handled the Cranes on an interim bases immediately after Micho dumped Uganda due to salary issues.

This one replacement Livingston Mbabazi, to whom Micho announced first as his assistant. Mbabazi found it had to drop the job he had just acquired from newly promoted Uganda Premier League side, Arua Hills as their head Coach.

As we speak now, the Cranes already in camp, they are at Paradise Hotel in Ntinda but later they will set off to Jordan where they are going to have a training camp ahead of world cup 2022 Qualifier game slated for September.
