No Boardroom Favor this Time, Chill With Your Defeat, UPL Dismisses Vipers’ Petition Against Ankole Lions

The Uganda Premier League Secretariat dismissed the Vipers’ Sports Club petition against Mbarara City FC.
On 18th May 2021, the Entebbe based side, Vipers SC petitioned UPL Secretariat against Mbarara City, claiming that the Ankole Lions fielded ineligible player in names of Ibrahim Magandazi in their match day 25 played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Tuesday.
It should be recalled that Vipers lost the said game by 2-3 against Mbarara City after recklessly dropping their 2-0 halftime lead at home Ground.
Having filled their complaint against Ibrahim Magandazi that he was ineligible to feature in match number 195 for accumulated yellow cards, the Secretariat looked into the matter and came up with a verdict signed by Chief Executive Officer Bernard Bainaman against Vipers expectations.
“We received your petition dated 19th 05 2021 alleging that Mbarara City FC fielded an ineligible player in the match Vipers vs Mbarara city (SUPL) 195 played on Tuesiday 18th May 2021 at St Marty’s stadium Kitende.” The verdict read in parts.
As per UPL records player Ibrahim Magandazi was eligible to play the said fixture.
Ibrahim Magandazi was booked in M#70 UPDF vs Mbarara city, M#93 Mbarara city vs Vipers, M#95 Mbarara city vs KCCA FC and was rested against SC Villa.
Ibrahim Magandazi also booked in M#178 Mbarara city vs Soltilo Bright Stars.
Mbarara city and M#191 Mbarara city vs Onduparaka.
Conclusively the said player was eligible by the time he featured in M#195 Vipers SC vs Mbarara City” The letter concludes.
The results from Boardroom leave Mbarara City with their three points, 32 points as they are getting ready for their match day 26 at home against Police FC at Kakyeka Stadium.
Vipers remained in third position with 53 points, two behind table leaders Express FC.
Today URA FC had chance to reclaim their top position but were beaten relegation battler, Kyetume FC by a goal to none.
