USSSA Ball Games 2026: Kibuli, Kinaawa Clash for Boys’ Crown as Rubaga, Mbogo Battle in Girls’ Final

The curtains are set to fall on the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association Badminton Championship 2026 with an electrifying finals day lined up at Seroma Christian High School.
After a week of high-intensity competition from May 1–7, the country’s top school badminton talents have battled through grueling fixtures to earn a place in the ultimate stage, where titles, pride, and bragging rights will be decided.
In the boys’ category, giants Kibuli Secondary School will lock horns with the fast-rising Kinaawa High School Kawempe in what is expected to be a tightly contested final. Kibuli have looked dominant throughout the tournament, brushing aside opponents with clinical precision, including a statement 3-0 win over Kakungulu Memorial School in the knockout stages.
Kinaawa, however, have proven they are no pushovers. Their resilience was on full display in a hard-fought semifinal victory over hosts Seroma Christian High School, where they edged through in a tense encounter to book their place in the final. With a balanced squad capable in both singles and doubles, Kinaawa will be confident of upsetting the more fancied Kibuli side.
The girls’ final will see Rubaga Girls School take on Mbogo High School in another blockbuster clash. Rubaga Girls have arguably been the most consistent team in the competition, registering dominant wins, including a commanding 3-0 victory over Mariam High School.
Mbogo High School, on the other hand, have relied on grit and teamwork to reach the final. Their impressive 3-1 win against Seroma Christian High School underlined their credentials and set up a fascinating showdown with Rubaga.
The tournament has also highlighted several standout individual performers. Players such as Faridah Kabandana Nuwagaba, Stellamaris Ainembabazi, and Josephine Kobusingye have lit up the girls’ competition with exceptional displays, while Denis Mukasa, Eric Ofoyuru, and Robert Warren Oroma have been instrumental in their respective teams’ journeys in the boys’ category.
Organized under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association, the championship continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing young badminton talent across the country, with scouts and coaches closely monitoring emerging prospects.
