Wakiso zone champions Rines SS and Ankole giants Boni Consillii stole the spotlight as the semifinal lineup of the USSSA Girls Football Ball Games I was confirmed, with record champions Kawempe Muslim SS suffering a shock elimination.

Rines SS delivered one of the standout performances of the quarterfinals, knocking out Kawempe Muslim 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout after a goalless draw in normal time. In a highly tactical contest, both sides struggled to break each other down, but Rines held their composure from the spot to seal victory and, in the process, deny Kawempe a slot at the forthcoming FEASSA Games.

Boni Consillii continued their remarkable consistency by reaching the semifinals for the second consecutive year. They edged Busoga region champions Jinja Progressive Academy in another dramatic encounter that ended 1-1 in regulation time before being decided on penalties. Jinja had stunned their opponents with arguably the fastest goal of the tournament, as Yagala Flavia struck inside the opening minute. However, Boni Consillii responded in the second half through Ariho Rinah, who calmly converted from the penalty spot to level matters before her side triumphed 5-4 in the shootout.

Defending champions St Noa Girls SS showed their class with a dominant 3-0 victory over Mukono’s last representatives, Latifah Mixed SS Kabimbiri. After a resilient first-half display from Latifah, St Noa turned on the style in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to comfortably advance.

In the all-Teso derby, Amus College narrowly edged Bukedea Comprehensive School 1-0. Faith Akoi’s decisive strike in the 49th minute proved enough to send Amus into the last four in a tightly contested affair.

The four semifinalists — Rines SS, Boni Consillii, St Noa Girls SS, and Amus College — have all secured qualification to represent Uganda at the FEASSA Games slated for August in Morogoro, Tanzania.
