AUUS Games 2025: MUBS bounce back as Kampala University tighten grip on Group standings on Day Two

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) returned to winning ways on Day Two of the AUUS Games netball championship, comfortably beating Gulu University 40–18 in a dominant Group C encounter.

After a heavy 52–08 loss to hosts Uganda Christian University (UCU) on the opening day, MUBS showed resilience and character, taking control of the contest from the first quarter.

They led 9–3 at the first break, extended the advantage to 17–8 at halftime, and maintained their momentum through the third quarter at 28–15 before sealing a convincing 40–18 victory at full time.

The win revives MUBS’ campaign in Group C, which also features UCU, Bugema University and Gulu University, keeping their hopes of progression alive after a difficult start.

In the other morning fixture, Kampala University continued their impressive run with a hard-fought 36–22 victory over Makerere University. The match was tightly contested early on, with Makerere edging the first quarter 8–7.

However, Kampala University regrouped strongly, overturning the deficit to lead 17–12 at halftime before pulling clear in the second half to take a 27–16 advantage at the third quarter break and eventually closing out the game at 36–22.

The result means Kampala University have now won both of their opening matches, a run that sees them sit top of their group and firmly in control heading into the remaining fixtures.
