USSSA Ball Games II: Janan Crowned Champions of U16 Boys Football

 St Janan Luwum Secondary School (Kabalagala Campus) was on Friday 6th, September 2024, crowned champions of the U16 Boys Football, USSSA Ball Games II Non FEASSA Qualifiers.

To reach this milestone, Janan defeated Al Noor Islamic Secondary School in the final played at Teso College, Soroti City, by 2-0 score line.

Towering, left-footed centre back, Shafic Kitimbo and Kato Rwahim scored a goal in each half to guide Frank Kitindidde coached side to glory.

Kitimbo put his side into lead with a thunderous free kick at a quarter an hour mark following a foul committed on the tournament most valuable player (MVP), Nicholas Kawooya.

Ten (10) minutes into the second half, Kato Rwahim headed home to double the lead from Henry Ddamulira well taken free kick.

In their road to final, Janan eliminated East African champions, Amus College 2-0 and Panadoli 4-2 in penalty shoots following a barren draw (0-0) I the quarter and semifinals respectively.

Elsewhere, Al Noor eliminated title contenders, Light High School Sseguku (4-2 penalty shots) following a barren draw in quarter finals before ejecting Vision For Africa Nakifuma by 2-1 in the semi finals.

Dickson Baraza was the top scorer of the age category, Nicholas Kawooya voted the MVP while Shahadah Ankunda was the best Goalkeeper.

Isingiro based side, Boni Consili defeated women football giants, Kawempe Muslim by 4-1 in penalty shoots after a 1-1 draw in the normal time play.

St Noa Girls School Zzana won the CAF PAN Africa Schools in the girls’ category in their contest, with Kawempe Muslim following their 1-0 victory.

The Boys category, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende defended the championship, and the will together with St Noa Girls School represent Uganda in CECAFA qualifiers.

The 2024 USSSA Ball Games II Non FEASSA Qualifiers kicked off on Sunday 1st September with arrival and climaxed on Friday 6th at Teso College Aloet.
