The 2023 USSSA Boys football qualifiers in greater Mukono region has entered the business stage and Kayunga District champions, Namagabi SS have been sent packing. The tournament is now down to eight teams.
The eight teams are region defending champions, Mukono Kings High School, Mukono District champions, Dynamic SS, finalists, Kasawo SS, Latifah Mixed SS, Buikwe District champions, Quality High School, St Andrews SS Lugazi, Kayunga Light College and St Mathias Kalemba SS Nazigo.
Kayunga Giants, Namagabi Secondary School who had earlier qualified in second position of group B was petitioned by St Andrew SS Lugazi and the Kayunga District Champions were disqualified from the ongoing championship.
Group games Results
Mukono Kings High School topped group A with Seven points, followed by St Mathias Kalemba with only goals separating the two teams. Mehta SS came in the 3rd position and then Hamdan finished in the fourth position.
Mukono Kings High School opened up the day with a 1-0 victory over Mehta SS courtesy of Wasswa Dirisa lone strike before their 5-0 win over helpless Hamdan Islamic. Najib Alawi netted a brace, Douglas Enzama, Wasswa Dirisa and Miiro Stuart each scored one . Against St Mathias Kalemba SS Nazigo, the encounter ended in a barren draw.
St Mathias Kalemba SS Nazigo thrashed by 3-0 score line. Erias Kayima, and a brace from Hakim Mudaka were enough to open the day for Isaac Kitakule coached side.
In the next contest, St Mathias Kalemba SS needed Hakim Mudaka lone strike to advance to quarter finals with a game in hand which ended in a goalless draw.
the other group game was a barren draw between Mehta Secondary School and Hamdan Islamic Secondary School
At Kalagi playground, Kasawo SS kicked off the day sharing spoils with Quality High School in a barren draw before registering an easy win over St Mark High School Kayunga by 4-0 score line. Sharif Kawanguzi, Abdul raheem Ramadan, Anuwal Mawa and Hashim Capello each scored a goal.
Note: OF Yale Secondary School has been disqualified from this year’s championship
