Sports Club Villa produced a commanding performance to thrash Police Football Club 6-1 at Kira Road Arena on Wednesday, becoming the first team this season to score more than five goals in a single match.
The record champions bounced back emphatically from their failure to collect maximum points against newcomers Kataka FC in their previous away fixture in Bukedea, delivering a ruthless display against the Peacekeepers.
Frank Ssebuufu scored twice, while Ibrahim Kasinde, John Asiimwe, Patrick Jonah Kakande and Sausa Jonathan were also on target as Villa moved to the top of the table with 14 points from six matches.
Ikamba Bedia scored the consolation goal for Police, who suffered their third defeat of the campaign and remained ninth with seven points.
Villa took the lead in the eighth minute when Kasinde finished off a well-delivered corner kick from Asiimwe, giving the visitors an early advantage.
Asiimwe then turned from provider to scorer five minutes later, slotting the ball past Police goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru to double Villa’s lead and put the hosts under immediate pressure.

Villa continued to dominate and added a third goal in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. Ssebuufu capitalised on a simple cutback from Isaac Mpagi to finish clinically, sending the visitors into the break with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
The visitors resumed where they had left off, with Patrick Jonah Kakande extending the lead to 4-0 in the 48th minute.
Ssebuufu completed his brace in the 59th minute after being set up by Kasinde, putting Villa firmly in control at 5-0.
Police managed to pull one back through Ikamba Bedia, but their brief consolation did little to change the course of the match.
Substitute Sausa Jonathan then capped Villa’s impressive display by scoring his first senior goal in the 83rd minute, restoring the five-goal cushion and sealing a memorable 6-1 victory.
The result propelled Villa to the summit of the league standings with 14 points from six matches, underlining their title credentials after an emphatic response to their previous setback.
For Police, the heavy defeat marked another disappointing outing as they remained on seven points in ninth place.
Elsewhere, NEC FC collected maximum points away from home in Kamwenge, defeating Kigezi Homeboyz 2-0 to secure a valuable victory.
