Fortbet Real Stars Awards: Nambirige Voted November Best as Ekone Lifts the Super Stars Gong

The She Cranes and Kampala Capital City Authority Netball Club defender, Sandra Nambirige Voted the best player of November in the Netball category.

This has been the first time Netball to appear in the Fortbet Real Stars monthly awards this year and Nambirige who had an exceptional display in month of November both on national team and the national league managed to beat her fellow stars in Prisons workaholic defender, Asingo Viola and NIC’s goal shooter Seera Zam.

To win, Sandra Nambirige looked better when her side, KCCA taking away NIC three years’ unbeaten run, while humbling another title contender and rival Weyonje Netball Club, in fact KCCA was unbeaten in that month of November and it was the side that conceded less goals.

“I am really grateful that have won this award, it’s my first time to win such awards, I was caught by surprise, didn’t know that there are people outside Netball who follow the game to this level.

I thank the organizers, Fortbet Real Stars for thinking about netball and voting me as the best player in November, going to continue working hard.” Sandra Nambirige told this website after winning her first accolade.

At the same event which was held at Garden City -Kampala on Saturday evening and was graced by NCS chairperson, Ambrose Tashobya and shadow minister for Sports, Hon. Kayemba Solo, Brendah Ekone, basketball player at JKL Dolphins was voted the super star of the year 2022 beating Jacob Kiplimo and rally driver, Ponsiano Lwakataka.

“It means a lot, because, working hard and get rewarded at the end of the year, it feels great, it’s so motivating, I feel that I got the support from the outside world, and I have to work hard to see that I get back to the podium next year.” Said Brendah Ekone, the National Basketball women’s league finalist with JKL Dolphins and the winner of the Super Star Award.

At the same event, the football icon, Jackson Mayanja Mia Mia received the Life Achievers award and the former Cranes star thanked the organizers for remembering him.

The Real Stars Sports Agency CEO, Isaac Mukasa had this to comment after successfully winds up the 4th year of the Awards existence.

“We are happy that those who won the awards attended in person and made the day colorful, we are also thankful to our sponsors that they are still with us even at the end of the year, the federations that organize the competitions where we get the best performers.”

“Our target is still on, because we want to see that there is competition at our national teams, and these awards motivate the athletes to work hard and eventually our target do come through because many of them want to win and winning means working hard.” Said CEO Real Stars Sports Agency.
